Is this sentence active or passive, Some useful sewing techniques were demonstrated at the craft show?
I'm not really sure if this sentence is considered active or passive. If anyone could offer advice I would be very thankful.
Passive---this means that something is being done to the subject, as opposed to the subject actually doing something.
So, this sentence, the techniques (subject) had something done to them (they were demonstrated). They are not the things that are DOING the demonstrating. If I said, the host demonstrated the sewing techniques---then it would be active, because the subject (the host) is actually DOING something---demonstrating.
